I have travelled a fair bit and seen parts of the world I once only dreamed of seeing. Nothing inspires me more than wandering through a forest during 'golden hour,' when the sun hits the trees in a way that makes everything look warm and inviting, enticing you to walk down the unbeaten path.
Or surround myself with a different culture; I stayed in an Airbnb with an amazingly accomplished German cinematographer as my host, sharing sushi while she told me the backstory of her film work. The world is beautiful; people are beautiful.
I love riding my gravel bike and kayaking with my wife and friends. When I travel, you'll always find a pair of TRX bands in my suitcase so I can get my vitamin D and get a good workout anywhere, anytime.
Stay tuned for some outdoor classes!
I have loved music, singing, and dancing for as long as I can remember. Growing up, some of my favourites included Michael Jackson, David Bowie, and Queen.
My primary instrument is the guitar, but I can play several other instruments. I have played in a few bands, one as the drummer and another as the front-woman/ guitarist. My wheelhouse is Rock, but I have dipped into different genres, much to my dismay and pleasant shock!
I have released an album with one band, and yes, it's still out there. You can listen to it, but only on Deezer. If you have a physical copy of the album, you are lucky, as only around 200 copies were made!
I went on tour and rubbed shoulders with some fascinating characters and genuinely talented musicians. You can still find me playing in either a duo or a band around Berkshire.
Because of this passion, you are garaunteed follow-worthy playlists in my spin classes!
Now, this was born out of the fact that I was bullied at school. I had enough and wanted to take control of the situation so I could feel empowered and confident in life!
I first started Taekwon Do, and then along came Wing Tsun Kung Fu. I was finally learning something useful, and it's an art form that I connected with because it was more about technique than brute force. Being the creative person that I am, I loved it!
Then I met my amazing Wife, who introduced me to Budjinkan (boo-jin-can) and convinced me to join a few Ninjutsu classes. I found adapting to this form of training surprisingly easy because it was similar to the type of kung fu I was studying. One thing I was not prepared for was more frequent use and training with weaponry, from Bokken to bo staff, tanto to shuriken, shuko to kyoketsu shoge...feel free to google them!
Ninjutsu is very much like a well-choreographed dance, and it is all about technique.
So,
Outdoor fitness classes, amazing music in my indoor cycling classes, and solid technique in my PT sessions.
